So repairs are going to take longer and the snow will be around for many days.
Well, I hope you're finishing up on getting your essentials for what will likely be an extremely challenging winter storm.
The snow is going to begin tonight in the D.C.
area, then spread up 95 to New York City and Boston and beyond during Sunday afternoon.
And all travel will become hazardous, if not impossible.
Thousands of flight cancellations, too.
Now, I'm still looking at 6 to 12 inches for the majority of the region.
And some places may reach upwards of 18 inches.
But a switch to sleet and freezing rain would lower those totals a bit south and east of 95 near the coast.
But then you'll have a disruptive ice storm on top of the snow.
And bitter wind chills of 10 to 20 below zero will continue after the storm leaves on Monday.
So repairs are going to take longer and the snow will be around for many days.
The various weather models continue to show a solid 6 to 12 inches of snow from D.C.
to New York City and on up to Boston.
The snow is going to fall heavily.
It'll accumulate rapidly.
But there are still small details with big impacts that need to be worked out.
Like where there may be a change to sleet or freezing rain.
It would most likely be south of 78 in New Jersey and then down 95.
This will lower snowfall amounts but bring the threat of major icing.
