to New York City and on up to Boston.
The snow is going to fall heavily.
It'll accumulate rapidly.
But there are still small details with big impacts that need to be worked out.
Like where there may be a change to sleet or freezing rain.
It would most likely be south of 78 in New Jersey and then down 95.
This will lower snowfall amounts but bring the threat of major icing.
Snow will begin tonight in D.C.
and Baltimore and move on up past Philadelphia, Newark, New York City, Bridgeport, Providence, reaching Boston during Sunday afternoon.
And all travel will become very challenging and hazardous.
Thousands of flight cancellations, too.
The general consensus is 6 to 12 inches for the majority of the area.
Some places may reach upwards of 18 inches.
But a switch to sleet and freezing rain would lower those totals, especially south and east of 95 near the coast.
Here in the northeast, the hazards from this storm are going to be mounting.
Most maps are showing a solid 6 to 12 inch snowfall from D.C.
to New York City and on up to Boston.
And there will definitely be cities and towns, especially west of 95, that will get more, perhaps a foot and a half.
On the other side of 95, closer to the coast, some locations may stop at 6 or so, and then followed by a sleet and ice storm.
And as for the timing, the snow will likely start around midnight Saturday night in the D.C.-Baltimore area, give or take, and it will likely be snowing in New York City and suburbs by the time you get up on Sunday and reach up to Boston towards lunchtime on Sunday.
