What I would do, and it's very tough for the Yankees and the Mets to do this with their rosters.
I fully admit this.
But I saw the value of it last year with Acuna.
I want a guy on my bench who's just a specialist at stealing bases.
A, there are more stolen bases today than ever before because of the bigger bag.
B, we've got the Manfred man.
We're getting that guy on second base with speed with a threat to steal third?
Right.
Is such a weapon?
Yeah, and then any base hit, he basically is home.
No doubt.
Now, unfortunately, I was getting geeky this morning.
I was breaking down the 26-man rosters, potentially, of both the Mets and the Yankees and how I think things are going to fall.
It just doesn't fit right now, unfortunately.
But I'll tell you, especially as the season goes on, ideally, I want a Braden Ward on my team.
I want that.
In fact, that's what the Yankees should do.
Once this guy doesn't make the team, claim his ass on waivers.
Bring him over, because I think we all could use a Braden Ward in our life.
