He's a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Exactly!
First ballot Hall of Famer with a Yankee logo on his hat.
If that doesn't define a guy who should have his number retired in any sport on this planet, I don't know what does.
It is not CeCe Sabathia's fault that the Yankees retired 51 for Bernie Williams or 20 for Jorge Posada or go down the line.
And we love those guys.
Those guys' criteria for having their numbers retired were that they were focal points, Paul O'Neill wearing 21, of a Yankee dynasty.
That's right.
They're not Hall of Famers.
They're not Hall of Famers.
And I also don't even have an issue with those guys getting their numbers retired because I get it.
They're core members of a dynasty.
The issue with people I have with the Yankees is that too many numbers are retired.
Well, guess what?
When you are that great a franchise, you're going to have a lot of numbers retired.
That's right.
And if you're going to retire those guys' numbers because they were part of a dynasty, that means you're going to tell me that you have to win more than one championship to have your number retired?
Newsflash, number 99 and 45, Garrett Cole and Aaron Judge, haven't won a championship.
Does that mean we're not putting their numbers retired?
Right.
