But more than anything, I would have loved to have seen uh an improvement with the way he plays football and and and gets Liverpool up the pitch with his feet.
Um and we didn't see that.
I remember you and I were were watching.
watching the game against Leeds and that was the one where we were purring over Neoney, but I was also watching this goalkeeper who, you know, was letting these goals go in.
And uh when Liverpool were trying to get forward, there's balls going into the stands and you're a bit like, oh I don't know about this.
Like I don't know what the recruitment team have seen at the time to say that he um you know is the next iteration of Allison or even comes anywhere close.
In terms of what Allison offers, not as a sh not just as a shot stopper, because that should be, you know, that should be pretty standard for any Liverpool goalkeeper, but um in terms of what he's able to do with his feet.
Um so that was a concern for me that isn't necessarily about the now, although it could be a concern soon with with Allison's injury record.
More when you're looking forward, when you're looking ahead to next year and you're thinking about, well, for Momades Philly, what he really needs this season is
some really strong performances where if Alison comes as close as what he did to last season uh in leaving and he and he absolutely does leave in terms of his contract, you're able to go we've got the the ready route made replacement there.
I think with someone like A Elliot, it would have been a real bonus to have someone c like him come back and be really strong and something that looks great in Verts' position, you've got, you know, you can be a a sort of genuine option.
I think sorry, last thing was the manager talked about the importance of the squad players.
And that's uh when I just think about it, that's that's really interesting because obviously last year with with Ernest Lott and even the year before, um, it was very much a lot of the time we were in shows and we were saying, I made up, he's just gone with his favorite eleven again and when you're winning, that's brilliant because the players who aren't playing and who are sat in the bench and maybe not getting onto the bench when you've got this squad are able to go he's able to go, Well, we're winning.
Obviously, you see what happens last year.
You know, Robertson leaves because he's not getting them the right amount of time that he thinks he should be getting on the pitch.
I think this time they will all have the opportunities because the squad's not there yet.
Um, and so there may still be time for a Harvey Elliott when he maybe gets his his um you know his fitness levels up and he's thrown in on a cup game or he's thrown in with the 10 minutes to go and he thinks, actually, Joe, I remember that I used to come on for Liverpool and make a difference off the bench.
So there still is those.
But I thought it was most interesting that the manager talked about that and we're looking at what he has off the bench and and that's the biggest question mark about Liverpool going into the new season.
