The guns fell silent on October the ninth of nineteen forty one, as the Ninth War Zone's forces restored their pre battle positions, marking the end of the Second Battle of Changsha.
The balance sheet was grim on both sides, but it was China that bore the heavier cost.
The Ninth Military Front suffered 70,672 killed, wounded, or missing.
The concurrent Yichang offensive added a further twenty one thousand three hundred and sixty-eight casualties to the sixth Military Front, a force that had outnumbered its Japanese opponents ten to one, yet still failed to retake the city.
