This happened a while ago when I was a kid.

It was around nineteen ninety nine.

I was about ten or eleven years old.

Back then, my family and I often would go camping in the summer or fall as a tradition to try and reconnect with each other while soaking up the nature around us.

Since it was ninety nine, video games and the internet weren't as popular yet.

And I was already more of an adventurous outdoor type of kid.

I always appreciated a little journey into the woods to do some deeper exploring.

Plus, it was always a great opportunity to share moments with my father, mother, and my sister.

We often stayed at the same campsite every year.

We really liked it because it wasn't too far from home, had well-maintained spots, and featured a pretty big public area.

great area with a pool, a park, water fountains for the kids, and general activities that we could do during the day.

That year the summer was absolutely beautiful with unbelievable weather, so the camping season ended up being much busier than usual.

Sadly, this also meant that our regular campsite was at capacity, and no spots were available for the weekend we planned to go.
