There were questions arising then too.
And if you think about it in very, I suppose, blunt or frank terms, Mary Lou Macdonald, if you look at it this way, has effectively lost three and now four elections for the party.
This is a by-election.
They're not good for governments.
They should be good for opposition parties and particularly the main opposition party, who is rivaling the figures of the government coalition parties.
So where was that performance?
Now, many people will say that Sinn Féin has moved away from maybe their left, you know,
base cohort and their values and they're moving more towards maybe socially conservative views which could be seen as maybe sort of a lurch to the right in some areas like immigration and areas like that and that's not
working, it seems, when it comes to their vote and how it's turned out.
Oh, absolutely.
And you can see that in the ballots here.
And a national school with Glasnevin or Drumcondra in the title.
And there was no showing for Janice Boylan.
But there was for Daniel Ennis.
And when you look at the parties, Social Democrats, Labour, Sinn Féin, the Green Party, they are all parties of the left.
you would in some ways kind of be digging to figure out what the big differences are between them but certainly Sinn Féin have probably singled themselves out as having differences to those parties to their detriment whereas they could have been kind of looking for that broader swathe of left vote and they've kind of alienated that in some ways and so
That's what you're seeing with Daniel Ennis, a huge amount of support for him in those leafy areas of Glasnevin and Drumcondra.
And as you said, some of the Bertie stronghold.
