There's always both a push and a pull.
So it might be poverty.

And if it's that, you can solve it.
It might be something around a particular teacher.
or something that's frightening them or bullying but then the pull factors are i love that lesson or if i could just solve this thing i could i could go it's often really really small and the best place people to solve that are actually not the children's commissioner it's their own teachers and head teachers with their parents but the challenge for you is there are 30 of you in all yeah and how many children were being reluctant to go back to school

So, look, we can survey children, talk to children, and we do get involved in some individual cases, but normally the most vulnerable children, we can't, you know, as you say, there are only 30 of us.
What we can do is advise teachers, advise headteachers, which we do.
I've just surveyed every single headteacher in the country, got a 90% response rate for what their biggest concerns are, for what would make things better for them, for what they're worried about children for.
And that we can disseminate, share, make sure that policies are made around that.
