He's four years further out of the game.

He's probably second or third elect in the market.

The gut feeling is it doesn't happen.

It wouldn't surprise me if it did.

It would be totally an illogical decision if it proceeded.

Illogical.

Yeah, the word process is a bit overdone, isn't it?

And then it's not just a process.

James has given it another name, an exhaustive process.

Unless it's exhaustive, it hasn't been a successful one.

But I admire him putting his hand up and doing it as bold as he did, and I have no problem with him wanting to do it.

In fact, when you believe in yourself, great players always have great belief in themselves, and he's got great belief in himself because that's the person that he is.

But he is not equipped to see how ill-suited he is for that job.

And interestingly, Nathan Buckley's gone another path, which is

He's been out three or four years, learn the game again, understand the contemporary changes in the game and where it's headed, get into an elite system.

That's a better pathway and the one that James should explore if wanted.

He hasn't probably had the marketplace for him as an assistant coach, let alone a senior coach.
