It's an aging, overrated, 26th-ranked defense.
I think that was their ranking.
And I don't know.
What about the overall thought that they clearly have?
They've stated it on the record, all of them, in so many words that they think they're this close to a championship.
But not really because the Patriots sunk to the bottom of the league and didn't get there in their first time back.
It wasn't like the Patriots had been knocking on the door.
I don't believe in that old bum Phillips theory.
You knock on the door, and then you finally kick it in.
No, in this league, you can suck for a couple of years, get your quarterback, and in your first try back in the playoffs, go all the way to the Super Bowl.
For sure, but I'm talking about the idea or the illusion that just because you get in, you have a realistic chance.
I know it is, and it's faulty and wrong, and it's underscored by this hire and this quarterback and everything else that's going on around there.
First of all, they think this is okay.
They're doing fine, but they could do a lot better, and they're really close to doing a lot better.
I just think their overall organizational philosophy is really, really flawed, and it's underscored more than ever by this idea.
We're going to bring in a 44-year-old quarterback by the end of this season, and, man, finally we'll get over the hump.
The other thing happening here, Bob, is that a lot of their key players on defense are getting old.
Yeah, I think they'll definitely bring in a quality receiver, finally.
