Day of coordinators, I see this all over social media and I talk to brides, they're confused all the time about this because a day of coordinator is really not just a day of coordinator.
That person is coming into the mix typically four to eight weeks prior to the wedding to go through the details and execute what a bride and groom has put into place up to that point.
It should really be called more like a month of coordinator versus a day of coordinator.
They're going to take the vendors that the bride and groom have contracted and they're going to go through those, help the bride and groom with the timeline, tightening that up.
And typically that's more of a one page timeline.
They're going to assist with the ceremony rehearsal for the processional, the recessional, and also the ceremony on the day of throughout the wedding day into the reception.
Think of the day of coordinator or month of coordinator as someone that executes.
They don't design or plan from scratch like a wedding planner would.
it would be really difficult for a day of coordinator to come in just for the day of the wedding.
They really need to be in the planning process four to six to eight weeks prior to thoroughly understand what the bride and groom have put together and to be able to execute all of those plans.
The rehearsal, they have to understand the rehearsal and be part of that to make the day of the wedding really be successful.
So a good day of coordinator is going to be someone that's going to be in the, in the mix a few weeks prior to the wedding to really be effective.
So a wedding planner and a day of coordinator are, they're similar.
The difference is a day of coordinator's coming in towards the end of the process, where a wedding planner's starting with the bride and groom in the very beginning of the process, helping the bride and groom navigate all the vendors, meeting with them, securing them, helping vet them out.
And a good wedding planner's gonna have a lot of experience in the wedding industry, and they're gonna have a lot of good vendor contacts that they can provide the bride and groom.
So that's one big difference between a day of coordinator and a wedding planner is when they're starting.
A very effective wedding planner is going to start early with vision, with budget, selecting the vendors, managing the vendors, the timelines, the contracts, taking a lot of stress and pressure off the bride and groom.
They're going to act as an advocate for the bride and groom because that's who's hired them.
They're not working for the vendors.
They're working for the bride and groom.
