And if you were to look at the huge rolls of casualties from the Battle of the Somme in general, in September, there's this little one that's tucked away that just says that Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Sandys dies of his wounds.
I think in a way Spence that's true.
Yes, it is indeed only part of the story.
Of course, though, the battle, as you say, is going to continue.
And that's going to be our focus in the very next episode as we look south of the Roman road at the story of the Somme on the 1st July 1916.
