Um I f this feels like relevant to me because I think the the FIFA plan to to sell off the World Cup, which has been the the biggest newsy thing of the last few months, feels like it has so many parallels with the the super league failure.
Um even right down to some of the people involved which which maybe Matt can get into shortly.
So yeah, this feels like a very good time to do this counterfactual.

I mean my main memory of the reaction is just how kind of uh
one-sided and overwhelming it was.
I think normally when there's a big kind of debate in football, there's at least someone speaking on, you know, the the other side of it.
And with with the the FIFA comparison, we had, you know, Infantino is this very kind of public figure, um, very well-known figure, and perhaps the the biggest personality or one of the biggest personalities in football governments at the moment, kind of speaking for it.
Whereas on the Super League

Um, Matt mentioned Perez and Angeli, but at least in this country, my recollection of it was there was just no one to actually defend it.
It was like overwhelming amounts of people coming out, you know, clubs, players, organizations, fans, just saying, We're totally against this.
And you know, I was I remember listening to the radio radio in the kitchen, and it was all they were talking about, and you know, on TV, on Twitter.
Twitter, wherever you looked, this was the talking point.
But there was there was no one actually defending it whatsoever.
So uh it given that, I mean perhaps it was different in Spain and perhaps Perez was doing interviews and and defending it, I I don't know.
But in this country, certainly, that there was there was no one speaking for it.
And and given that, it was kind of unsurprising, given the kind of weight of opposition.
