I mean I I pr I probably shouldn't say this um as a as a football reporter, but

I just think the

the lack of jeopardy in the um league phase as it is now, yeah, is so dull.

And even the jeopardy that they're supposed to be in the last kind of two match rounds um doesn't really excite me because it's too complicated, there's too much going on and you can't really follow it.

So um I I I I think we'll we'll we'll get to this in the in the kind of what if section, but I I think it would have got boring very, very quickly what

these clubs play each other over and over again.

And and I think that was the it would have been the the downfall of it.

And and as as Matt says, you could you could kind of make a case that that is the downfall of the competition we've ended up with.

But I guess the the big difference is that Spurs and Chelsea aren't in the Champions League this year.

And Spurs Spurs, for example, are look a million miles away from it right now.

And Aston Villa are in it.

So I'm sure Aston Villa and and others would say, oh

Well, you know, we're we're we're happy it didn't go ahead and we're you know, we're very happy with this format 'cause we got to qualify on merit, um, which which wouldn't have been the case um had the Super League happened.

The similarity between the World Cup and the Champions League now is that you've got to go through all these games that feel low jeopardy and kind of meaningless to get to the stuff you actually want to watch.

And that's a good point.

What the Champions League's like now.

And that's what the last World Cup was like for me.

I was like, I'm not going to be watching these group games.

Some of them are still great, aren't they?

Yeah, you know, there obviously were storylines in there, but I think the way football's going now is you get a lot of filler.
