It's Christmas, so everyone's going to be drunk, and at the end of the day, there's going to be fighting on the front lawn.
It just has to happen.
Every single year, this has to happen because...
We're going to get drunk and then as soon as Creedence starts playing, someone's getting beaten up.
It was just a family function and that was normal.
And normalising that is not the environment that I wanted my kids to grow up in.
So now I'm talking to a man who's very successful.
He's taken a whole lot of risks and they've paid off creatively for you.
And the man's got a wonderful marriage, beautiful kids, kind of built a really lovely life and kicked the booze and all those things.
And I saw your set last night and this is a set of songs from your new album.
And hearing you perform those songs, it felt like kind of an exorcism.
You know, there's the great old cliche about how to write a novel.
It says, write from your wound.
