Monday is Martin Luther King Jr.
Day, the federal holiday to honor the memory of the late civil rights leader who was assassinated in 1968.
King's daughter, the Reverend Bernice King, says she believes the holiday is, quote, a saving grace amid the political divisions in the country.
She also was criticizing efforts to roll back diversity initiatives.
She said the progress that was made during the civil rights movement is paramount.
But despite the challenges, she said, she continues to see progress going forward with her father's goals.

According to police, the alleged incident took place December 2nd at Diggs' home near Boston.
It was reported to police December 16th.
A woman who worked for Diggs as a chef said she was afraid to file a police report.
She said Diggs became upset when she insisted on being paid and she said he struck her in the face and tried to choke her.
Diggs' attorney says the allegations are false.
The 32-year-old Diggs recently signed a three-year, $69 million contract with the Patriots.
The team said in a statement, We support Stephan.
We continue to gather information and fully cooperate with the appropriate authorities and the NFL.
The big winter storm, classified as a bomb cyclone, started in the upper Midwest with more than a foot of snow and high winds in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and it's heading east with high winds and frigid temperatures.
