Another renowned expert in food systems published a report last month, The New Geopolitics of Food.
It highlights how many countries' food systems have become increasingly vulnerable, dependent on distant markets, fragile supply chains and a handful of powerful exporters and corporations.
This mostly affects low-income food consumers and import-dependent countries.
The conclusion of the report, which is published by the global think tank, the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems, IPES Food, says a priority should be efforts to reduce volatility.
