I think, you know, a good example would be on Flows Which Do Exist.

The 22nd song we wrote was Animals.

And thank fuck we wrote 22 songs.

The mistake on that album was probably putting 15 songs on the album.

It would be a better album if it was like 11 songs.

The more you can write and whittle down, the better.

But it's an exhausting process as well, isn't it?

Full songs with lyrics and choruses.

Yeah.

I mean, you could say that for most albums.

Doing a full album, it's increasingly feeling like... Chucking yourself up.

They're never that good.

It does feel like, at the moment, to make an album is to make more than what people want.

And that's a difficult thing.

There's still validity to the format, obviously, and there are still a lot of people that do want albums, and it's a standard part of the economic makeup of the industry.

So there's no world where our label are saying, don't make an album, they definitely want the album.

But you can see it online.

You'll put just as much effort into the 10, 11, 12 songs, but the ones that don't get the music video don't get played.

And we really saw this clearly because after the album had been out for a year, we did a video for Broken Mirror, and the song suddenly starts streaming five, six, seven times as much a day as it was before the video.
