Well, just on this, if we had one, he was going to wear an England shirt, apparently, outside Downing Street, rather than a suit, which actually tells you quite a lot about him.
He was born in Aintree in Merseyside, but brought up in a little village called Culcheth, which is halfway between Liverpool and Manchester, just above Warrington.
His dad was a phone engineer, then post office, got promotion at Bile House in Salford, and didn't fancy moving to Manchester, so sort of lived in this little village, very close-knit.

His dad was kind of of the left, traditional left at the Labour Party.
So we can probably imagine what he was talking about.
1985 was when he really became political.
We've got the miners' strike, boys from the black stuff on the telly, all about the long term unemployed in Liverpool.
You can imagine he's a man searching for identity, and this is giving him something of a cause and a thing.
The Labour Party,
1987, he actually stands for as a Labour representative in the school hustings, which he wins, although perhaps by a little skullduggery, his mates pulled out the plug on the microphone for the Tory candidate.
Apparently, his family were kind of politically aware, not kind of wearing on their sleeve.
They didn't have Labour plaques outside the bungalow.
