Eleanor Mills is sort of an editorial assistant at Baltic Publishing, which is where Andy was working at the time.
And she says, well, look, you're interested in politics.
They talk about politics all the time at the New Inn pub in Brentford, near where the HQ is.
There's a job for a parliamentary researcher with my stepmom.
Why don't you go for it?
He goes for it, gets it, and that's where it really begins.
Absolutely, and also how the media works.
So he did his parliamentary research thing with Tessa Jowell.
Then he was part of the general election in 97, the Landside for Labour, helping out with that.
Leaves Tessa, works in the NHS Confederation as a parliamentary advisor, talking through legislation and stuff, works for the Football Task Force as an administrator, but then actually gets a job as Chris Smith, who was the culture secretary at the time, special advisor.

When he wants to say something, he knows how to land it with papers.
He's in a very good position in 2001, and he's in a particularly good position because he ends up sharing an office with a guy called James Purnell, now his chief of staff, who's also a very serious person, who was very in with the Blair administration.
He'd been a special advisor within Downing Street.
So he's got this connection with that.
He's working in the right circles.
He knows his game.
He's well set.
