One is emotion.
handling negative emotions when I'm anxious, when I'm angry, when I'm panicked, when I'm depressed?
Can I handle that?
Can I help myself be in the positive emotional range?
Can I be upbeat?
Can I let it go, that resentment, that thing that I'm thinking about that other person that's making me so angry?
Can I let it go?
Or can I see the same thing but not with the emotional valence, the emotional impact of that?
So there are two halves to it.
One is managing negative emotions.
The other is encouraging positive ones.
By the way, there's a handy little exercise for putting yourself in a positive set for the day, which is to think about people in your life that have been helpful to you
and how grateful you are to them.
Just starting your day with that puts you in a positive key.
Yeah.
In fact, I'm working on it now with my wife because it comes up with her quite a lot, which is I tend to say no automatically.
Right.
She'll propose something, and I'll go to no.
And then I'll think about it, well, maybe yes.
But I think it's not a healthy habit.
