That kind of leadership tends to alienate people, actually.
You may get temporary, like, oh, yeah, I'll go along with the boss.
But people basically feel alienated by that kind of leadership.
So I think there are positive styles and there are negative styles.
There's the leader who asks people what do they think, the consensus leader, which tends to be a very positive style.
There's a negative style, which is the pace setter, we call it.
Someone who's very good individually because they're a perfectionist.
They drive themselves like 120%.
And they look at other people through that same lens.
But that lens is something that only sees defects, sees how it could improve.
It doesn't bother to celebrate positives.
So it's actually very demotivating.
Well, I think right now there's a bandwagon for AI, and I think too many leaders are putting too much faith in it.
I think that AI may prove to be a bit oversold in the workplace.
I think that some leaders may be forgetting that it's really all about people.
Even if you have AI, if everyone had an AI assistant, they still need to be inspired.
They need to be guided.
They need your influence.
And to forget that the human element still matters, even in the AI age, I think is a huge mistake.
I personally don't use AI, but many of my colleagues do.
