And that sort of paradox, I think, is something you want to convey.
I I do think you're doing a disservice by simplifying.

Joe or Jane Greek in the year four fifty BCE, say Periclean Athens.
When they heard Homer, it wasn't the language they were speaking to each other.
So I'm trying to give a slight sense of that every now and then I'll use a
a slightly stiff word order or a a slightly archaic word, not all the time by any means, but just so every now and then, as I put it in my translator's note, you feel what I call the starch in the collar.
