The rebuild is underway.
I'd also like to thank Patrick Galvin.
Patrick is a terrific person and we appreciate all his efforts here and we wish him the best on his future moves.
Most importantly, I want to say thanks to our loyal fans who supported the Canucks through a very difficult season.
I share in your disappointment.
We expect to be better.
need to be better and we will be better.
We are 100% committed to rebuilding the roster into a championship-caliber team.
We're excited about our young players, our future picks we will add, including the third pick overall in this year's draft.
Every expert agrees that we'll get a terrific player with this selection.
And now, for today's exciting announcement,
The last couple of weeks I've been discussing with Daniel and Henrik how to expand their roles within the organization.
When Jim announced last week that he wanted to accelerate his timeline to step away from the day-to-day duties, I went back to Henrik and Daniel and asked if they would take on co-presidents roles of hockey operations.
And I'm thrilled they said yes and here we are today.
Henrik and Daniel bring passion, hockey knowledge, leadership qualities, requires to create a winning culture that will guide us and align our hockey group going forward.
For the past 26 years, Daniel and Henrik have dedicated their entire professional hockey careers to Vancouver.
Whether as players or in various management positions, they've always committed themselves to excellence.
As remarkable in their ongoing heartfelt commitment to giving back to our community and everything we've asked of them and everything they have given to us, they have made us stronger.
We couldn't be happier that they have now agreed to take on the top hockey role.
It's my great pleasure to welcome Ryan Johnson as the 13th General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks.
