You're thinking, okay.
Here's some life.
It's now 5-3.
And the homer that he gave up to Martinez felt like, really, in many ways, a bit of a hinge point in the ballgame because it created that added separation that you thought, I'm not so sure they have enough offensive firepower to get back.
And ultimately, that was enough firepower.
to get the job done tonight it makes you feel worse too because the bullpen was great yeah right so were they not like six and two-thirds in the end of one run baseball they were really really effective and it does make you wonder hindsight being what it is if they would have gone earlier slightly earlier would you have had a better outcome and maybe two less runs are on the board and suddenly it's a different ball game here tonight
But the number that they threw out there, I mean, it's kind of hard to believe.
First inning ERA as a Blue Jay, not just this year, as a Blue Jay, is 1329.
That's just an absurd number.
I didn't even know you could go to that extreme when it comes to ERA in a single inning.
And it's also very noticeable, similar to last year, obviously that ERA illustrates it, but he really struggles first time through the order.
It's a big issue.
For Max Scherzer, it has been, even going back to last year.
And maybe we are on course for something where there's that, similar to a year ago,
where there was that patch of three, four weeks late in the season where you didn't see him pitch and he kind of went away and he was doing his own thing and was able to rest and also recover and prepare.
Maybe we get one of those stints here with Max Scherzer at some point as the Jays progressively get healthier in their starting rotation.
But that number was, I mean, it's just, it's crazy.
13-2 ERA in the first inning.
Unbelievable.
Yeah, and also I think we got a, you know, there's a piece of this here now too.
