In a Providence courtroom that December, the federal judge throws out a plea deal from the prosecutors for Peter Underwood, who was offered three years in exchange for a guilty plea.
Underwood, if you don't remember, he's one of the boatmen hired by Gilbert, the distro guy who had experienced but looked like a preacher.
He's a bit player, but there's a reason coming down the road for why I'm mentioning it.
The judge actually throws it out as being too lenient.
The case he rules goes to trial the following January.
The trial has a lot of crazy moments, but you guys know we like to keep the sort of court back and forth stuff somewhat brief because it just it doesn't make for the best podcasting.
It opens with a bang though before the jury's even picked.
