It's the morning of June 21st, 2022, and sitting outside a cafe in Budapest, a 64 year old man is having breakfast in the sun.
He looks like a nobody.
That's kind of the whole point of him.
He's tanned, gray hair, a little overweight, the kind of expensive casual you see on a thousand retired European businessmen drinking espresso at a thousand outdoor cafes.
Not really fancy, he blends in, and that's what he wants.
If you walk past him, you'd clock him for a middle-aged Dutch tourist.
He's carrying a Mexican passport that says his name is Guillermo Diaz Flores, born June 1962.
The passport is a fake, the birthdate fake, the name fake.
Everything is fake, and it's only one of many aliases he's used.
He's like a character from a movie, the one you might call the ghost if you were lacking in creativity and trying to throw up a cheap action movie for Netflix.
Maybe the bad guy in an episode of Burn Notice.
Seriously though, please bring back Burn Notice.
What's real is this, Hungarian police have had him under watch and they move on him right where he is at the table, in the middle of his breakfast.
And the man does not run, does not fight, does not flip a table or reach for anything.
By every account, he just stops because there's nowhere left to go.
