On September 25th, 1980, he joins the Mato Grosso do Sol military police.
And he is good at it in the sense that he rises fast.
He becomes a major and ends up commanding the military police battalion in a town called Amambay, which sits right on the border with Paraguay.

So yeah, he's at that border area, and this particular border area has a reputation at this point, and still does.
