Can we give some people some grace?
It takes time.
You know, I argue there were signs before we got to the playoffs that he should be given a chance at lefties, right?
Like give him more opportunities against lefties.
And that played out as much as we got through the playoffs.
It's kind of a slap in the face, isn't it?
But the shade was deserved because he's basically saying, we know in the past you have not operated as a big boy team.
Big market, sure, because that's just based on population.
But your moves and your decisions have not reflected of the Torontos and the Padres.
We could go down the list of teams that have acted more quote-unquote big market than the Cubs in recent years.
And also other people's stuff is usually more attractive than your own stuff.
Like, you know, when you've had it for a while, you may not appreciate it as much.
And that might come into play when you're talking about leaning towards someone's free agency years at the back end, post-arbitration, post all that.
Nico Horner is in a clear situation where he's already been extended once.
To give him the second extension makes him cemented as a cub for life.
Taking Nico Horner out of their lineup would take away such an important piece of what they were when they were good last year, but also how good they can be this season and going forward if he just maintains what he's done over the course of his Cubs career.
