badass Chinese made, you know, anti-ship cruise missiles they were going to shoot at us or anything like that.

And our, you know, the the the aircraft on a carrier just running pickets 180 nautical miles out from the strike group, like that was really our primary defense, was just don't let anybody that we think might have weapons get close.

And because, you know, uh like an anti-ship missile, you're talking about missiles usually with, you know, maybe uh cruise missiles with ranges of a hundred nautical miles, maybe two, I mean two hundred would be like a really uh, you know, really long one, unless you in in for that even you'd have to have like surveillance aircraft in the air, all that kind of stuff to like help with the targeting.

And so like really it was like if you could keep them more than a hundred, hundred and fifty nautical miles away from the

strike group, like that was our sort of primary defense.

And this is even back, I mean, when I was in the game, like in in the late 2000s, early 2010s, everybody kind of just knew that, you know, if one like like when Hezbolla fired that, what was it, a Charlie 802 or uh like um derived missile or something, that Israeli frigate in 06.

And you know, the the uh fire controlman who was in charge of, you know, uh paying attention to uh the the Aegis sectors um wasn't off over in the corner flirting with, you know, the sonar technician instead of manning his console, which uh I give like a fifty fifty chance if that's not the case at any given moment.
