What I do know, having worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals on sertraline for many years, having been around when fluoxetine was first put out there, what I can tell you is that they've done a lot of research, but we're only getting data as we go along.
And so far, there hasn't been significant improvement.
issues that happen in the long term.
But I think it's a cautionary game because we know adults can take these for years and years and years.
I think the idea of using them in children is to do it for as minimum amount of time as possible to effect a management program alongside other things because you need to have the body system mature and grow and do what it's supposed to do.
And it is up to us to really think about that and do no harm.
I mean, that's really the point is not be gung-ho with it because I think that's a mistake.
Oh, yes, absolutely.
And I have seen it so often where you've done it and it's life changing.
And it's amazing.
It really does rely on a differential diagnosis.
You have to think complexly about this whole infrastructure that you're dealing with.
You can't just tick, tick, tick, you've got this.
I think you really do have to look at it and think, well, how is this going to fit into the place of this complex situation?
And what else can we add to this to make it a really holistic approach, not just a full on, here's a medication, go away and get better.
