The Parents United model called for individual therapy for offenders and victims, but also group counseling.
A holistic approach to treating the entire family.
Jerry attended some other sessions with Tom as part of Parents United that were almost like AA meetings for child molesters.
Picture a self help group with a bunch of husbands and wives together in a room.
The husbands have all sexually abused kids.
The wives are all working through grief, denial, anger, or acceptance.
It's strange to imagine Tom standing in front of a circle, saying something like, Hi, my name is Tom, and I'm a child molester.
Jerry says Tom used his self effacing charm to win over the room.
