And this was 30 years before the Me Too movement.
That was like if you were getting ready to, you know.
And then you would be like, well, may I kiss you?
Or may I do this or that or the other?
You would ask.
And man, the whole country was laughing at that policy.
And even I was like, because I'm watching, I was living in New York at the time, watching the news, like, oh, they're making fun of Yellow Springs.
And so I came home for Thanksgiving and I found out that my father's widow wrote the policy.
He was alive at the time.
And I asked him, like, yo, John, what was that?
And she explained to me the reasons for the policy.
And I laugh about it now because it's so much like what Hollywood just went through, all this weird ambiguity.
And it's like, how do you teach young adults how murky sexual contracts are?
Because if you make them correctly, no one should see you make them.
And, you know, as odd as it sounds, it worked.
The problem was that people on the campus, there was like an astronomical amount of sexual assault accusations.
And she says, as an administrator, by the numbers you have to recognize that can't all of these be true, but you can't dismiss any of them.
So we have to teach them what it is.
And it worked.
those same numbers plummeted.
