But you did receive a scholarship to study information technology.

Which he pretty quickly found was not for him.

Dave returned to university after a year working in an abattoir.

Yeah, but anyway.

And an abattoir after that.

You went from that, you started studying accounting after that?

After a profound realisation about alcohol, Dave quit drinking completely just after his 21st birthday.

He moved to Perth where he bombed only a few gigs before finding his comedic voice.

Gaining recognition in the comedy world, Dave moved to Melbourne to chase bigger opportunities.

In 1998, Dave had his first break on mainstream television appearing on Hey Hey It's Saturday in addition to his brief appearance on Neighbours that same year.

And what was it like when you bombed?

Do you have memories of that?

So we've kind of moved away from the bio, which is totally fine.

But all that to say, you went on to do, I wrote here, you've done every show and you hosted Breakfast Radio for decades.

I remember listening to it when I was 18, 19, similar stage, trying to work out what do I do with my life.

I was opening up a gym at 5.36 in the morning.

I've listened to you and Kate when you started on Nova back in, it would have been 2000, I think.

Yeah.

And so you've been doing this for a long time.
