economy to a large degree.
I mean, there's shortages of jet fuel right now already starting to hit European countries.
There's talk of flights being scaled back.
Obviously, gas prices are quite expensive.
Trump came out and said we don't need them to open the Strait of Hormuz initially, but then he's since come out and said that it's their problem and the fact that they are not willing to take Iranian fire to...
reopen the strait if the us is saying we're not able to do it ourselves that's a pretty big ask for your allies if they were not consulted on the war by and large think it's a bad idea and it's hurting them at home to then say your duty is now and by the way that's not how nato works it's a defensive alliance so it's if a country comes under attack the other countries will stand by them so there's a lot of flaws in the basic logic of what they're trying to say the problem is
nato is so dependent on the united states uh militarily and has historically been that for them to actually make a definitive break from trump from the us has been very very difficult up to now but we're starting to see it over the course of the war countries not willing to let the us use their territory or their airspace to launch attacks
on Iran.
And Keir Starmer, who has really tried to maintain the relationship with Trump, actually in that same press conference you showed, came out and said, there's a lot of pressure on me to change my position on Iran.
I will not change my position.
So, I mean, they are trying to figure out
what an alliance looks like if we can't count on the United States anymore.
But it's a massive question for all of them and for Europe as a whole to try to contemplate.
And in real time, they're paying the price as well for this war in terms of gas prices, et cetera.
I think so.
Yes, yes.
Yeah.
Don, I was going to say, I'm glad that Dave got to talk about the ins and outs of the case, and I got that one, because my take, not knowing as well as Dave does where this could be decided, other than I don't think that the principle of birthright citizenship will be thrown out,
I think if that's how your lawyer sounds in a key back and forth, even if you're on trial, that's probably not a very, you know, a confidence building scenario where he says, I think so twice in the course of that answer in a kind of perplexed way.
So I would imagine that if President Trump hears that clip, he will not be thrilled.
