Liverpool have got a great story to tell and everything is about story, certainly in American culture when it comes to football.
You look at the reason why Wrexham has been impactful is because there is an interesting story to tell and a narrative and I think Liverpool have that.
because of history and the kind of demographic and the whole history of the city and everything, I think all that chimes really well.
But the tour itself, you always have to do
There's always a requirement for football clubs to go to certain geographical locations in order to tick boxes for their commercial partners.
So when they went to Asia, just the first one after COVID, they did that because they had to go out to satisfy a need for standard chartered.
And moving forward, I don't think Standard Chartered have an awful lot of runway left with the football club.
So I think Liverpool probably start to look towards, you know, it wouldn't surprise me whether some high level discussions were taking place in America around what some of those big deals look like.
and partners look like moving forward because Standard Chartered's up for renewal Expedia on sleeves has this final year left I believe that's not going to be extended and that's what I'm led to believe from people I've spoken to in the commercial world I may prove wrong but
So what that means is they're looking for some serious IP, or at least, if these brands do wanna re-engage, they're looking for other people to come to the table to raise the stakes every single time, because that's the idea.
So last time they went for the front of sponsorship, they went to market,
across a whole load of different places um to try and get an idea of price and raise the stakes and i think they probably tried to do that again but from a from a cultural perspective i think that the fact they had some really really neat stuff um to take to their kind of in the states they did they tapped into the wrexham story um which is means that has that'll form some part of the documentary in the next year or two um which is you know
adds to the story for Liverpool but then you've also got it's impactful for people to see the Empire State Building turns red and then launching a shirt in New York and there's been lots of live events Ian Rush went over Robbie Fowler went over and you have to do so much of that so I look at
The tack they will take is similar to what the likes of Men In Blazers did during the World Cup, which is quite, to try and be quite organic about generating fandom as opposed to thrusting this thing in your face.
It takes time to build fandom, meaningful fandom where people will attach themselves to a club for the rest of their life and that becomes, then that spend is like lifetime spend.
But I think
Men in Blazers did that really, really well during the World Cup, and I think Liverpool would like to tap into that element of creating organic fandom, but that takes time.
I think you'd like that.
Who wouldn't like it?
I looked at Rory Smith on that.
