September 23 was when they concluded that very small deal with Dynasty Equity, which took ages.
I mean, that ended up manifesting from the initial news that FSG were looking to sell Liverpool outright, and they'd gone to market and looked for a price, and they were kind of seeking buyers.
And then as it...
war on it ended up being a minority stake and it's single digits in the end and it was used to kind of pay down some of the bank debt and strengthen the balance sheet this feels slightly different in that the makeup of this consortium so you've got Amit Bhatia then Lakshmi Mattel so Amit Bhatia is married to Lakshmi Mattel's daughter Lakshmi Mattel's
is one of the, you know, the wealthiest men in India and is steel magnate, got a huge portfolio of investments as has Bhatia and then Jeff Bezos' name is mentioned and that's the kind of, you know, that's the golden goose, isn't it?
But, you know, I imagine any involvement there would be on the smaller side.
But this,
The fact that this is now a consortium of uber wealthy people makes me think that this is the first stages of a longer term plan for an easier exit because the wealth will already be in the building in some way, shape or form.
They'll already have done their due diligence about the business to get to see what it looks like, see where it works, see where it fails and what they can bring to it and
take some, you know, be able to see some, realise some value along the way.
But I just think this is the first real indicator that they're looking at, you know, what an exit looks like in the next few years.
Of course, everyone leaves.
Everyone, nothing lasts forever.
It could be, you know, they look in the market and think you've had in the past two, three years, you've had United sell a minority stake to Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos.
You've had the sale of Chelsea to Todd Bowling and Clearlake.
And I think that
I know Liverpool are probably looking at that thinking, do we see what the market looks like for our own business now?
And maybe some of the partners.
I mean, FSG isn't just John Henry, Mike Gordon, Tom Werner.
It is an enterprise made up of 30-plus partners, maybe more than that, who all have a stake in the business.
