I feel that it feels like a very defensive posture for YouTube, which I'm surprised that they are taking because they have always been the one metric that people care about.
You know, like everyone just makes views.
As as David Pierce will say, views are view numbers are are fake.
They're everything is fake.
They're just they change the way that they work all the time.
And X is changing the way it counts views and Twitter, all the all these things.
YouTube did shift the way that YouTube short.
views uh worked quite a while ago to be in line with TikTok and all of those things.
Uh and so now their reasoning is that they want to unify the way that the views work across all their platforms.
They now have a different metric name for the ways that views used to work because the way views used to work is still the way that people are being paid.
