What we'd like to see is a relief for the hard-pressed small business owners.

I think the PRSI rebate is something that we've called for for a very long time.

We think that would be a targeted solution.

And that's what we need, Joe.

We need targeted activities.

We don't need a big giveaway, which I don't think is going to happen in fairness.

But a targeted PRSI rebate would help those most affected, especially in the transition towards the living wage, especially if the government is to accept the low pay commission's recommendation and put it up to €14.15.

Speaking to my members this week or every day as I do,

Although we know we're on the transition to the living wage, I think when the government postponed that move to living wage out by a couple of years, there was a feeling that maybe we wouldn't have too big a jump this year.

But speaking to the members this week, certainly certain members across manufacturing especially and logistics companies and those who are heavily exposed to the minimum wage,

you know another 65 cent on top of that or or whatever it ends up being today uh it's going to have a serious implication again not just to the smart to the minimum wage workers but the big thing is it it pushes up wages right up the chain and that's where really that's where businesses really struggle there's an expectation that's where a lot of people miss this if

we've had a positive shift in society.

You know, we've had, you know, the commitment to a living wage, extra sick days, as you said, where, you know, we have a pension problem, so auto enrolment is essential.

But what about the small business owner?

What about the people who are listening here this morning who have been up since early, whose margins have been slashed over the last couple of weeks?

They're the people that the government needs to support.

The business owners, they take the risk.

I don't feel they're being ignored.
