It is that challenge that you outlined that really appealed to me the most, if I'm entirely honest.
Quite frankly, it was the biggest transformation program that Irish sport has ever seen.
And it was important to us and it was important to me that we actually delivered on that.
I'm delighted to say that the association is now in a much more steady footing.
Look, I think the reality is it's an absolute privilege.
I kind of cut my teeth in the UK sports industry.
But to have the opportunity to come back and take all that experience that I had gained over the water and to wave my national flag for a change was...
It was an absolute honour.
So, yeah, when I had the opportunity presented to me, I jumped at it.
Look, I was very comfortable in my role with the English FA, so it needed to be something very compelling to tear me away from it.
I think it is that challenge that you outlined that really appealed to me the most, if I'm entirely honest.
Looking from afar, I think it was clear to me that Irish football had never realised its full potential.
I think there's been moments where the nation kind of gets a taste and a flavour for the power of the game.
But yeah, I wanted to see that realised on a more consistent, on a more professional basis.
And I thought with the experience that I had gained, that especially as well, you know, the association had hit some choppy waters that maybe I could come in and help steady the ship and point us in the right direction.
So for the benefit of the listeners, I joined in 2022.
I joined initially as chief operating officer, ultimately becoming CEO in 2024.
So, look, I think a lot of the groundwork had been laid in the period 29, 2020, 2021.
So for me, the biggest focus was delivering on our MOU commitments with the government.
So obviously, we signed a memorandum of understanding with government in exchange for their support, which we're hugely grateful for.
