What they want is action.
That was the clear message that was given to me over the last while.
They want leadership, they want vision and they want action.
we voted for was the alternative package of measures that we brought forward because i'm not in the business of supporting half measures i didn't do it the last time we were proved right the government were back with their tails between their legs again this week half measures is not going to cut it when uh when there's talks about tax cuts if you go back to the last election when finnegale promised tax cuts we didn't see it in the budget that was just gone we saw billions spent where ordinary people got no real relief and that was the start
of the anger and we warned governments that people were really frustrated.
It was getting to a tipping point.
No, I think what they should have done is put in place a better package of measures to go further in relation to cutting the costs of fuel.
We call for the abolition of exercise duty on home heating oil.
The price of heating your home, if you have a tank in your home, has doubled.
There's no support for those families.
We call for energy credits.
We call for a complete package of measures.
And what did this government do?
They came in in an arrogant way and they thought they would sail through this.
They ignored what the opposition and what we in Sinn Féin were saying to them, because we were in touch with the people on the ground who were telling us, we are really frustrated.
This is a tipping point.
And what we saw was a reaction to the government's refusal to act.
And I think the government is weakened.
The government is wounded.
The government is clearly arrogant.
