When Jane Mansfield visited the Black House in San Francisco after she was ejected from the San Francisco Film Festival, they were meeting, it was kind of a bit of a publicity moment, but they were meeting Anton LaVey and visiting the Black House.
And in a really bullish, drunken, jerky way,
Brody, who I think was feeling some jealousy about the kindred kind of bonding that was happening between LaVey and Mansfield, he went into the ritual chamber at the Black House and started degrading the ephemera and knocking things over and making fun of things.
Anton LaVey famously walked in front of the people who were there in front of all, and he said, Sam Brody, you've touched the death candle.
Within one year, you will be dead.
And within a year, Sam Brody and Jane Mansfield were killed in a terrible car accident, which...
I personally believe Anton LaVey did not believe he had the power to curse people with death.
And I think when he got that phone call, he probably had a psychotic break.
I can't imagine getting that phone call.
But yeah.
That's a curse that I think is my favorite curse.
