So $25,000 per lead.
And they're forced to buy from all these vendors that have kickbacks with the franchise operator.
It's basically impossible to make a profit.
And you lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in many and most cases, the life savings of these people who just wanted sort of that American dream to be their own boss.
I'd say two things.
Number one, even the bare bones laws around disclosure that we have, according to the many franchisees I've talked to, have been violated.
The rebates are not disclosed until later.
They're not told that their fees are on what is called a per-territory basis.
You buy a franchise for a particular territory, and then you're told, hey, buy this second territory.
You'll make even more money.
And it turns out the fees double, and that's not disclosed in the franchising fee.
One interesting thing that was not disclosed, you're supposed to be able to contact all current and former franchisors
franchisees that that is in the law that you're supposed to be able to do your own due diligence by asking the people who've actually been through this how it goes and what happened was that the parent company when a franchisee bought out exited the business they would change their contact number to the headquarters of the company so there was no way to actually contact the people who lost out on this business
And that is a violation.
So even the bare bones disclosure that we have, that regime was violated in this case, according to these 54 odd franchisees.
As far as what the regime should or could be, I mean, obviously what you're talking about here when you're told this stuff, there's truth in advertising.
These are very misleading claims that are being made.
These claims are being made to get small business administration loans.
So they're telling the SBA, we have an average of $2 million of sales every year, and you can expect within three years a profit of $900,000.
These are misinterpretations to get a loan.
