100% I think Lauren Shankland is you hear this phrase no brainer for me it's the ultimate no brainer for Rangers he you can get him for peanuts if not nothing he is people will say he's the best number 9 in Scotland just now he has every chance of starting for Scotland in the summer he scores in big games he's a hearts captain
you know it all makes sense I think he it's no it's an open secret he's a Rangers fan I think he ticks every single box for Rangers just now I think there's previous Rangers managers have turned their nose up at Lorne Shankland Philippe Clement Russell Martin could have signed him didn't want to sign him I think Danny Rule sees what he can bring he doesn't just bring goals to me he brings leadership he's exactly what Rangers need this summer now Lorne Shankland might not come in and play every single game but you can't tell me that Rangers won't be stronger for having him in the squad and if you can get him
through this clause then you have to take the chance and I get that some certain players Scottish players have gone to Rangers and maybe not kicked on but I think Laurence Shankland is in the prime of his career right now and I think it's a great signing for Rangers When players move to Celtic and Rangers people always talk about the mentality can they step up to it the pressures that come with it
I could see Rangers signing three or four defenders this summer.
I think we should be clear that Laurence Shankland's Rangers transfer activity this summer isn't going to start and end with Laurence Shankland.
But if you can get this guy in who will completely...
Improve your squad Of course he is But you know Rangers are just starting Their summer transfer business So for me I don't see any negatives With signing them I'm with Malver I don't really see I'd be amazed If any Rangers fans Out there really Are upset at a signing Or are a bit You know Unenamoured with it Shall we say He's not a good defender David Yeah
You can defend it, Colin.
Look, to me, you just have to take him.
If you can get him under these circumstances, you just have to take him.
It shouldn't even be up for debate.
I think some people as well, I mean, in terms of the captaincy, I think he's got every chance of becoming a Rangers captain.
It'll be interesting when it is all announced if that's mentioned at all, but I think one of the factors this season, I remember speaking to Derek McInnes a couple of months ago and he spoke about Laurence Shanklin during his period out and how important he'd been behind the scenes and how important he'd been in the dressing room even when he was injured.
He's a guy who's matured
you know a lot over the years I remember him as Aberdeen as a kid and then going on to Dundee United and the Air and other different clubs had that spell in Belgium as well but he's a totally different player he's a lot more mature on the pitch and off the pitch and look I think there's every chance that he will be wearing that armband next season William does he come in as a starting striker for you is it as simple as that his gold record on the Scottish Premiership or do you think there'll be a bit of competition there?
Yeah, I mean, it probably could have been done before that as well, Andrew.
You know, it feels as if we've been linking, or everybody's expected Rangers to sign Lorne Shanklin for probably a couple of years.
I think, to talk about last summer, I think it was just snobbery.
I genuinely do.
I think the people in charge at Rangers, Russell Martin, Kevin Thelwell, I think they just looked at Lorne Shanklin and felt, no, we can do better.
