And so I just want to reiterate for members of the public that may watch this video that I have met
multi-decade old tennis friends that are all pickleball players as they age and I recognize the community is an aging community and I think we need to find a balance and it isn't this or that I I was
I WAS CERTAINLY APPRECIATIVE OF THE COUNCIL'S DECISION ON PICKLE BALL BUT I DO THINK THE COMMUNITY IS COMING BACK TO US ON THIS TOPIC AND SO I WANT TO CALL OUT THAT THERE'S A LOT OF FEEDBACK AND WE NEED TO FIND WAYS TO BALANCE THE NEEDS AND MAYBE THERE ARE SOME OPTIONS THERE.
SO AS WE GO INTO FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS I'D LIKE TO BRING THIS UP AGAIN.
On future agenda items, I'd like to propose a future agenda item in the form of a subcommittee to recommend data center as a dedicated zoning in Cupertino.
It has come to my attention that we have several light industrial zone sites in Cupertino.
Those would be eligible for data centers today.
Some of those sites are actually Tantau, north of Stevens Creek.
Imperial Avenue in the Monta Vista Village, Monta Vista neighborhood, areas of Stevens Creek west of De Anza Boulevard.
So we have a number of potential exposures where either an operator in the data center space or some of our largest businesses here may come in and have the ability to proceed because of the light industrial zoning.
So I'd like to propose a future agenda item for a subcommittee
to look into the recommendation on a dedicated zoning for data centers so we may treat that differently from a light industrial.
Do I have a second?
Do we not want to protect our Monta Vista neighborhood from being converted from automotive small businesses to data centers that can happen with the existing zoning?
Thank you, Commissioner Lindskog.
Appreciate the partnership here.
So do we need a subcommittee on this or should it just be an agenda item?
I propose a subcommittee because that's the zero dollar route because anything else requires funding and goes into a multi-year process.
And sorry, I'd like to add one more future agenda item on
the potential for bringing Pickleball back to this body for a balanced set of recommendations.
