Maybe it's not a big problem.
Maybe it's such a slow-moving emergency that the equilibrium will shift and, you know, it's kind of not something to worry about.
But maybe, I don't know, maybe it changes the fundamental fabric of society.
You have.
But then you don't have to have children, right?
But you did it.
No, it isn't.
Well, that's my point.
Which is why I don't think we need that.
Yeah.
That's the problem.
And that's the one thing no one's talking about.
One issue I feel very passionate about and resent that it's never actually discussed in its own terms
is the way that we're infantilizing our society and the way that adults are encouraged to behave like children and the way that children are adultified and we kind of, that boundary between adulthood and childhood is lost.
So what we have is a situation where we have a lot of biologically mature people
but who are essentially not encouraged to take themselves seriously and have that sense of moral and intellectual independence that we need.
And we need that precisely for dealing with the challenges that we've been discussing because this is very much a grown-up issue and our children or people who behave childishly are not going to be in a position to give a lead or to sort of fight back against all the bad and negative developments that are kicking in in our world.
