So he goes through this ridiculous process.

Eventually he becomes a pilot.

So that part is quite incredible in itself.

And then war breaks out in Vietnam.

He's on the first combat mission behind enemy lines and he gets shot down.

So his very first flight as a pilot in the war, he's shot down and he's captured.

And then he's imprisoned and he's in the prisoner of war camp, which is obviously grim.

And eventually manages to escape with another person.

And it tells the story of the whole thing.

He's rescued.

But by this point, he's just a human skeleton sort of in the woods and being stalked by a bear, which is waiting for him to die.

just like his shadow and um verner herzog is a very instinctive filmmaker he doesn't care for all the the fripperies and the fanciness and the framing he's all about something happening in the moment so radically he takes dita who is obviously still suffering from ptsd from his experiences back to the prisoner of war camp back to vietnam and he actually carries him through on a

on this weird pole back through the jungle to reenact his capture, which is utterly outrageous.

These days he would be probably locked up for doing that.

But this was probably back in the 80s.

Anyway, it's an incredible story of human survival.

And Herzog is the only person who could ever have made the film.

And so I don't know another film like it.

I love his stuff.

I could have picked Grizzly Man or some of his other movies, which are also fascinating.
