Look, this is a country, Iran, that's been under sanctions for a very long time.
No shortage of sanctions.

Unclear what more he could do, and I think that the ones that are the biggest pain points, chiefly targeting China, stand to be very difficult at this moment in time.

Far there's been a real reluctance for China to get involved at a very granular level here.
I think what the Treasury Secretary has floated here in recent days is is a level of sophistication that we haven't seen before here and a tightening of advice that doesn't come without peril.
Of course, we have President Xi planning to come to the United States uh in September to meet with President Trump.
Um and so for for the US to use that advice to try to squeeze China and
And by doing that, squeeze Iran more now has a lot of kind of peril both politically and and policy wise.
And I think that's really what the administration has to be weighing here.
Here we are in the sixth month of this this conflict and it was supposed to be a a week's long excursion as the president put it at the beginning.
We've known from the get go here the role that China plays in the economic relationship with Iran.
And I think it's come as a surprise to a lot of people watching the oil market how little of an effect it's had on China's economy broadly, the the way that this conflict has been waged.

Look, he's talked about the the toolkit in this context as well, what he has at his disposal, and we saw him uh in recent weeks deploying that.
The yen intervention, uh the bond buybacks of of recent days, promising that there could be more to to come here.
Uh you know, he he's maintaining that this is because he wants the market to focus more on the fundamentals.
