You know what happened to the last guy who said inflation was transitory?
You know, a little bit of inflation isn't a bad thing.
The problem with no inflation in the system is that people just don't go out and buy things because they think, oh, it's not going to be that much more expensive next month.
So why do I need a new refrigerator?
Why do I need a new air conditioning?
Or in the case here in the UK, why do I need to go out and buy a new winter coat now when I can wait until December?

A little bit of inflation is a good thing.
But I think the problem is that when you have inflation and you're not doing anything about it, then it goes back to that old Milton Friedman saying that inflation is taxation without legislation.
And the problem with inflation is that it eats away at your savings.
It eats away at the money in your pocket.
The good thing about inflation is that if you have a massive amount of debt, then inflation will whittle away the value of that debt in real terms.
And I think that is probably what Donald Trump is alluding to, that inflation is great.
If inflation is running at about 4%, it means that the national debt in America is being whittled away at 4% a year.
And it's almost a godsend as far as highly indebted countries are concerned.
But it's not great for the ordinary person who suddenly finds that things are going up so much in price.
Just ask the people in Turkey what it's like to have double digit inflation.
That's peanuts compared to Elon Musk.
I mean, the guy's going to be worth a trillion dollars.
